Kapalbhati Kriya
Kapalabhati is a combination of two syllables, kapala means forehead and bhati means shining. The practice of kapalabhati involves breathing out at a rapid pace by flapping the abdomen. It is also known as high frequency Yoga breathing due to the nature of practice.
Ancient texts indicate the beneficial role of Kapalabhati in the respiratory system and to increase lung capacity. By rapidly exhaling and inhaling, it helps to remove toxins from the lungs and bring more oxygen into the bloodstream. This invigorates the body and mind, providing increased energy and alertness.
The abdominal breathing and fluttering motion of Kapalabhati massage the internal organs and stimulate the digestive fire. It helps to remove mucus, phlegm and stale air from the lungs, improving oxygen absorption and circulation. Regular practice leads to a longer, healthier and happier life by promoting detoxification, purification and rejuvenation.
